Hi, thanks for taking time to read this.

I am pretty new when it comes to custom PCs and hardcore PC gaming. I have built many custom computers for friends and family, but that being said, it's usually someone else who buys the parts, I just assemble them. My current rig was of my own idea, (Not a very good one at that) but being that I had a hand-me-down PSU and 700 dollars, it was great, but now I need something faster, but im not sure how to go upon making it so.

My specs are:

A10-6800k APU

8gb RAM

1tb WD Blue HDD

250gb Seagate (Very old, and yes, it's just a harddrive, not an SSD)

3gb XFX 7950DD Boost (Overclocked to 1100mhz)

MSi E35 A75m FM2 mobo

Im thinking I need to do something about the CPU and Motherboard. My case is kind of lackluster, being an old Thermaltake from 2004-ish

Thanks in advance

Have a look at a few manufactures Antec ,Cooler Master ,Bitfenix ,Corsair so on .

As the best bet is to start from scratch & get a case . Unless you are willing to do some modding .

Then pick a Socket you want to play on

LGA 1155 is a good cheap way & still powers throw very well (i use it)

So pick a socket always have in mind you're budget ,

Socket type - Mother Board - Cpu to fit that socket ,

then the mother board will have a specific Ram type ,hopefully DDR3 .

@ the end of the day it all boils down to the budget .

Also let us know :

Nvidia or Radeon

AMD or Intel .

Good luck with it all. Get back to us.

Case: | TT Core x71 | Mobo: | Gigabyte Aorus Elite DDR4 | Cpu: 13600K | 1.300V | P-Core 5.6GHZ | E-Core 3.9GHZ | Cpu Block: EK Quantum Velocity2 | Ram: Team T-Force Vulcan Z 4x8GB 3200MHz DDR4 | Gpu: Gigabyte GTX G1 970 Bios Hacked 1.275V | Gpu Block: EK | Cooling: Custom Loop | Rads: 4 | PSU: Corsair RM 1000w

Will do. I will be upgrading to an Intel CPU. I'll be back in a while when I can order my new parts and get it all put together. I'll keep the 1155 in mind when picking a new Mobo

Don't go 1155 no point, may as well go 1150 as the price isn't much but, I would look at AM3 and get a FX8350 and a 990x board to go with it.

PC: Corsair C70 Arctic, FX 9370, Corsair H80i, Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3, Corsair Vengence 16gb, Palit JetStream GTX 970, OCZ Vertex 4 128gb and Western Digital Blue 1Tb + 500gb, Antec Gamer 520w

Peripherals: Logitech G19 and SteelSeries Sensei RAW

Toshiba L50-A: i7 4700mq, 8gb, 1TB HDD, GT 740M 2gb

Can you  explain the advantages of going AMD over Intel? From what I see, the benchmarks are better across the board on price comparitave CPU;s

The 8350 will pull ahead in games optimized for higher core/thread count (i.e. more of the newer titles)

The i5 will win handily in single core optimized applications and older titles.

8350 wins in sheer multithreaded performance vs i5 while being a cheaper chip and on a cheaper platform. Even then the differences are typically <5fps so w/e.

8350 is cheaper then a 4670k and AM3 tends to be cheaper then 1150

that's what i meant

Error: 410
