So I've been playing pc games for a while, I love the platform and I still like playing games.  However, I don't think I'm going to be regularly playing the same game anymore, because Overwatch is kinda dying and is really not fun for me anymore.  I spent most of my playing time playing that one game and I'm done playing it now, but I still have games I want to play occasionally.  I'm thinking of selling my gaming rig, keeping my peripherals and getting a gaming laptop or something portable.  Here's dilemma number 2, I currently have an old 2012 macbook pro that still runs great that I use for school, so I like macos better than windows portable, but I can compromise.  If I were to get something without budget limit (but around 2k or less) that can decently game and use for school, what would it be?

Questions/options to answer:

1. Do I sell my gaming rig now and buy a gaming laptop now?

2. Do I wait a year/till college to get a gaming laptop but sell my system now?

3. Do I just keep my gaming rig because of better performance overall and save my money for a new macbook when I go to college?

4. Your opinion or ideas

Thanks for all help

🙂

XPS 15's have the power to run games when you want them to- and when not: they're amazing for schoolwork. Super long battery life and are very snappy.

Theres rumors of the next gen XPS lineup being announced soon so maybe keep your eyes peeled for that

Your pc, imo depends on how much you want for it- I can't imagine the value of it depreciating too hard in the next few months, but you could sell now for x amount or sell later for few hundred less

If school will be priority: yes the XPS
But if you game some hours a day, a pure gaming laptop would be better, just a little less portable, but way better cooling.

I am here to learn, please correct me if im wrong or you see me putting bs on your screen!

I don't game very often, maybe 8 hours or fewer a week EDIT: and if it's a laptop, then school is probably the priority with enough firepower to game

Is it enough firepower to be around 100 fps or more? I would keep my 144hz monitor and that'd be nice to have.

No, it won't sadly

The xps systems have 1050ti's - igpu could be an option. But that would definitely surpass 2k

What other laptops would hit that and be still pretty portable?

MSI's P65 Creator 8RF possibly? Have no idea how expensive it is, but it has a fair processor an a 1070(?) I believe

Theres also the Aero 15 and GS65 - can't quote prices though again
