How much internet do I need?

So I was wondering if 60 mbps would be fast enough for gaming on Xbox, watching 2 tvs using Hulu live tv at the same time and watching YouTube at the same time? Is this a good enough speed?

Maybe. Probably. Do it, and you can always upgrade first

If you're using multiple devices. 60mbps should be fine. I'd recommend more if you're really into competitive gaming or just need the speed.

Hulu states 8 Mbps for HD playback. Youtube states 4 Mbps for 1080p. Xbox says "at least 1.5 Mbps".

 

Assuming you get at least half speed of what is stated, you should be fine.

Thanks. I’m just trying to save money right now, I’m getting 150 mbps but it’s just too expensive.

Problem is depending on the deal, 150Mb may be only $10 a month more expensive than 60Mb.

 

Or 150Mb is only $16 cheaper then 1Gb internet.

 

60Mb is plenty, but may be easier to call your provider and threaten to switch or cancel to see what they can make it worth your while with, on the other side of the coin.

It’s actually 60 dollars more and since I have a data cap I usually go over that’s so why I need to get the unlimited plan which costs even more. So stepping down my speed will help me pay for both internet and unlimited data.

No AT&T fiber?  They don't have data caps and it's $70 a month with no rental agreements.  It's been fantastic to have.

If you are ok with only having 100-150mbps sometimes it is cheaper to get business class at those speeds.  The 50 dollar unlimited fee is nasty, but is a better deal when you are paying for something like gigabit... where business class would cost and arm and a leg.

The 75mbps deal for business seems to range from 69.95 to 89.95 depending where you are.  So that would mean at 89.95 your 60mbps would need to be less than 39.95/m to be a better deal, but it would also be slower.

I had 75/10 service with Comcast and that worked fine for me. 60 Mbps might be doable. Or you could go faster for just in case, you should be fine with a 100 Mbps connection. Comcast gave us a free upgrade to 150 Mbps and we have no issues. As my family has Hulu Live, Netflix, and I do game on occasion.

Should be fine.  i have 75/30 and sometimes we have 4 devices streaming youtube at once with no issues..
