Need help picking a new GPU (Newbie)

Im looking to upgrade my pc's GPU mainly for playing new games at 1080p, 60hz on max settings if possible, while also using the pc to create 3D work on. My main issue atm is not being able to run many games at 60fps past there medium setting i.e fortnite, fallout 76, final fantasy 14 ec

I currently have;

I7-4790

2x AMD R9 290's

32 GB of RAM

My buget is around the £400- £600 mark any help would be great thanks!

6GB 1060, used 970 or maybe even a 1070 (to go above and beyond 1080p 60hz)

a 1070 Ti is enough for max settings at 1080p60hz for the greatest part

I doubt that 970 or 1060, will be sufficient, a 1070/1070ti would be needed for this at least.

1060 definitely will be for the most part, the 970 isnt as up to par for sure.

1070 I'm thinking might be overkill, it can easily run 1440 80 fps in most titles on high

Um...I would be glad to see a 2018 AAA tittle at 80fps on 1440p with 1060/1070

1070* not the 1060.

And sure, I ran a 1070 on a 1440 ultrawide and was constantly over 75 fps on high settings in games like WH: Vertmintide 2 and Forza Horizon 4

1070 would definitely last you a while on 1080p

I found a 1080 ti mini on ebuyer for just under £600, would that be to much i.e would my cpu be bottlenecking the gpu?

Ok but on games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider, 1070 provides 50-60 FPS on maximum settigns on 1440p dipping to the 40's at some scenes no need to talk about the 1060 (If you push the anti-aliasing a bit down it would stay above 60)

The only reason I suggest higher than 1060 is that the OP wants to game on maximum settings rather than tweak the settings.

Yeah your GPU will be bottlenecked but only in CPU intensive games.

Absolutely fair, just threw it out as an option if  OPs maybe budgeted.

In my experience the 1080ti mini is a somewhat crap card. Sure, it still gets much better performance than the 1080 and 1070, and it gets equal performance to 1080ti founders edition.

But,

1) under load it is constantly 84c, no matter the fan settings

2) due to the very tiny size, the fan speed is very fast under load, so it is a loud card. Because the fans are bigger diameter than the founders edition 1 fan, the sound is more pleasant, but it is loud non the less.

3) Minimum fan speed is 40%. It will not go below that.

4) Some say that the power delivery is worse than on some other cards.

5) absolutely no overclocking is possible on that card. Thankfully nividia turbo boost works fine.

If you dont care about sound it is a very cool card.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

Thanks for throwing it out there! ideally if i can save some money that would be great, £600 is at the top of my buget really, unless i go for finance which i don't really want to do if i can

Oh yeah, you can easily get a 1070 for under that then- I'd go that route.
