gtx 750ti to hd 7950 upgrade?

Smeltie

hi my little brother is on a strict budget, so noise, heat and power consumption is are an issue.
he is currently running a 750 ti.
his psu is an ocz 650watt modxstream pro... so power enough, his case is the corsair obsidian 750d, so cooling enough.
is it worth upgrading to a second hand hd 7950 for €50?
as i said thermals and noise is are issue.

Current build: Ryzen 7 1700x, asus prime x370-pro, 16gb gskill trident z rgb, asus rog strix gtx 1070 ti, corsair rm650x, nzxt s340 elite, samsung 840 pro 256gb, 1.5tb hdd.

Sell the case and buy a cheaper one for a bigger budget lol (not a joke). The 7950 is better, though probably not worth spending your money on to upgrade

Buy it, sell it on ebay for like 100 euros, then sell the 750 Ti for however much it's worth, then buy a better GPU....... lol. If you think you can sell the 750 Ti for about what you're paying for the 7950 then yeah go for it.

If you can make that sale happen, why not?  Upgrade, even small, for free.  Kind of a no brainer.

Not sure why you would want to do that, my understanding is that the 7950 is an older card, they were competing with the 600 series, in this case the GTX 670. However if your wondering if it will play games, it should be fine. I'm doing some light gaming with an even older AMD Radeon 6950 and it works fine with Final Fantasy XIII and Cities: Skylines.

It could be worth it, the 7950 does have more grunt in the terms of power, but it's not as optimized for more modern games as it could be. So it really depends on what he needs it for.

The 7950 competed with the GTX 670, of which the 750 Ti doesn't even come close to. It's an upgrade in every way. @Martijn Klerks

I would keep the 750 Ti around just as a backup, given that the 7950 is equally aged, so... yeah just be aware the card may be at the end of its life. Still worth potentially upgrading. :)
