I need to update my computer - now about 7 years old. I am on a severe budget, so I am looking at Amazon.ca and Black Friday.

If anyone has any advice for "bang for the buck" things to wishlist - I will need CPU for gaming (AMD Ryzen) (I am a Twitch streamer), compatible motherboard and RAM, video card (I have a nVidia 760 GTX atm) and possible case and power supply (currently a Deepcool da500 500w). I will be running Linux, and will be using the same hard drive, until I can afford another.

Budget - 500 CAD, unless I can squeeze some more out (selling guitars because they need love and I need a working computer *lol)

I am hoping that this build will be the base of a good system I can add on to because - being disabled - money is tight!

Thanks!

Don't only look at one place when shopping. Would be my advice.

Look up neweggs, CanadaComputer and many other stores as well before committing to buy anything, to make sure you get the best deals.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x16GB DDR4-3200
MOBO: MSI B450m Gaming Plus NVME: Corsair MP510 240GB / Case: TT Core v21 PSU: Seasonic 750W / OS: Bazzite

Thanks ... last time I looked for parts I was an OEM retailer ...I haven't built a system since when AMD Phenoms were released - actually that is the beast I am replacing. A LOT has changed, tech-wise - lots to learn in a few days *lol

If you're on a tight budget, don't get the 2700x, get the 1700x as they're heavily discounted and have similar performances ;

Second hand may not be a bad idea at all, I’ll second that. Especially  since most cpus don’t have pins these days!

What you could do is look for some fairly new second hand components, They can be real bang for your buck.

I have been looking locally ... I think many locals seem to think the BitCoin computer part boom is still going in - or think they can get their used equipment at full price :(

Saw a 1050gtx for over 1000$, and one similar to my current (except integrated video card) for 750. Hence I am hoping to find something decent tomorrow

between 2700 and 2700x or even 2600 vs 1700x ... will look at that!  I also saw that Asus is supposed to be 30% off - so might look at compatible parts in that branding. I also grabbed the free Prime, to save on shipping ;)
