Hi lads, Ive been running an i5 7600k on my B150M MSI Motherboard and I was looking forward to getting an upgrade given that my CPU's holdin gme back on most of the games I play (Gaming is what I do the most) like Total War: Attila or Rainbow Six: Siege. Was watching a techquickie about CPUs from 2014 and it's just really complex so I though some help would be welcome. What I'd like is a significant upgrade for hopefully not too much more than 300€, what - if anything - would fit in that category?  Thanks for your help!

I would recommend saving some money and buy an 8th or 9th gen processor and a new motherboard

but if you want to stay with the 7th gen stuff buy the i7 7700. It is the non overclockable version of the processor I currently use. (7700k) I will probably continue to use mine for the next 2-3 years.

Well you are on a b150 chipset motherboard so you won't be able to overclock so I would say the i7 7700 is the most you could get for a new cpu while using your current motherboard. Your other option is to upgrade your motherboard and your cpu. For 300 pounds you would likely be looking at a i5 8400 and a b360 motherboard or a r5 2600 and a b450 motherboard. Each have there advantages.

If you like to stay with intel(which for only gaming is the best)-I5 8600k is around 260-280 euro with out mobo

but better bang for bucks is ryzen-ryzen 5 2600 is around 150-160 euro without a mobo.(you could get a good mobo for 60-70 euro=220euro

If you want to stick with your current motherboard an i7 7700 non-k is probably what I'd aim for, but only if you can get it for a decent second hand price, ( ~150 ). If you can't find one for that price or lower I'd say switching to Ryzen is probably the best alternative, something like the Ryzen 5 2600+ would be leaps and bounds better than the i5 7600K for content creation and streaming and would be just as good in the games you're playing all the while giving you smoother, more consistent frame times. The Ryzen 5 2600 can be had for around 150 USD and you can get an entry level B450 motherboard for around the 100-120 USD mark, so both should be within your budget.

Wireless = Asus PCE-AC56 / Keyboard & Mouse = Corsair K70 MX Blue, Logitech G203 / Headphones = Hyperx Cloud Alpha /

An i5 7600k is definitely still an extremely capable processor today, and will be for the next few years.
