It crashes to a blue error screen as its nearing the end of install, and my old card is an

Was the download file the same size as described online?

 

have you tried installing it in safe mode?

 

boot into safe mode ddu and then run the latest amd driver installer all while in safe mode.

This worked, thanks for the help, now to just update the nitherboard and cpu

AMD has a weird driver bug when it comes to installing an update from the AMD settings.

Yeah, if I understand what you're saying, never update from the Adrenalin Control Panel. Manually download the driver, uninstall present driver before installing new one.
