Java Arrays

So hello everyone! I'm a starter in Java and programming in general so tasks that we get in our college are kinda hard for me.

 

Could someone help me and show how to create a sequence of integers for undefined number of integers (user will input integers),

and also I have to be able to access certain items in this sequence(precisely 1st and last).

 

I would be very grateful if someone shows to me how to do this :)

You can use ArrayLists for an undefined number of objects as you can literally just keep adding numbers to the end of it.

List<Integer> list = new ArrayList<Integer>();\
list.add( [ integer value here] );

I would probably just use an Array as they most likely haven't learned array lists yet so it would confuse them.

Just keeping this here as a But what if I have to input a lot of integers, and they'll be different every time I run the program, if you know what I mean.

 

Basically I run the program and it let's me put in my own values.

Use a variable for that integer and just use that value as the element being appended to the end of the list.  

int x = 0;

...
variable x changes here 
...

list.add(x);

First semeseter intro programming is usally the hardest if you do not have coding experiences before. Luckily you are starting in java and not something hardcore like C++ as some University like to do.

 

I suggest some good YouTube tutorials and self teach yourself these stuffs. Treat classroom materials as supplementals. 

 

You can actually take the free online course offer by Havarf for intro computer science. It is the excat same course taught to actual Havard students in fall 2018. Lectures, homework assignment, and exams are all on there. It is a great way to get yourself a bootleg edcation without spending any $$$ and it is way less shameful than sneaking into lecture halls which you do not belong.
