I'm looking to finally upgrade my ageing GTX 960 2GB and I'm not sure what to do. If I upgrade for Christmas then for my budget (max about £350) then I'm looking at a GTX 1070.

My question is this. Do I go for the 1070 for Christmas or do I stick it out and see what the GTX 2060 is like for price and performance? Is the 1070 likely to drop in price when the 2060 comes out? Will a 1070 last 3-5 years without bottlenecking hard (I'm at 1080p60 with a Ryzen 5 1600, not planning to increase resolution any time soon).

GPUs and CPUs rarely drop in price. They usually just run out of stock and disappear. There's also no information on a GTX2060 yet, so there's no way to know how it'll perform. That said, it will cost more than a 1070, that much we know, so it might not even be worth it.

I mean yeah the 770 isn't doing as great as it used to but the 970 is only a year younger and still kicks decent ass at 1080p. It only lags about 10FPS behind the 1060 in Shadow of the Tomb Raider so if the 1070 is doing that well in a few years I'd be happy. I'm pretty sold on going with Pascal at this point given the price of the 20 series although I may look at a used 1070Ti although that does mean having to avoid mining cards.

Yeah I think I'm gonna go with a 1070 or 1070Ti depending on deals or the used market.
