I've been wanting to do a mini ITX build for a while.

I already have a Gigabyte 1080, so i don't need a GPU or ram,

however my PSU is more of a POS

and I currently have a 480 GB SSD

I wan't to build a PC and i really only use it for gaming, so I am leaning more towards the 9600k for the soldered IHS and higher possible overclock leading to faster frame rates since i have a 144hz

I just want some second opinions on it, I've been having a hard time deciding between which case, Intel or AMD and motherboard, i wan't a decent OC with whoever I go.

And i do know i can save money going with amd because they come with their own coolers. I'm just not sure what OC i can achieve with it.

This is my build thus far, any tips or suggestions would be nice!

I'd like to note the Corsair 280X is a MicroATX case, meaning if you put an ITX motherboard in it, you're gonna have a bit of wasted space.

Maybe upgrade to the Strix Z370G Gaming Wifi AC? I have it and absolutely love it.

Go for a solid 750W Gold+ PSU. EVGA G2 or G3 750W would be a good option. Or jump to 850W if you want a bit more room for future expansion.

Also, it's " want " not " wan't "

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

I was considering the ITX board because i may decide to go with a custom loop, I did a build in a Corsair 240, and we weren't crafty enough to cram in a loop with the mATX board without taking the 2.5hdd tray, i guess i should've said i was planning on watercooling

I found this build in the 240X on PCPP. Looks like they did two 240mm rads with the Z370-I board. Likely could've put in a Z370-G and a single 240mm rad instead.

Here's their build if you wanna take a peek: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/Gg4qqs

Definitely looks to be enough room in there to fit an mATX board, 240mm rad, short reservoir, pump, and more.

Not to mention the mATX board gives you two more RAM slots, which means you could upgrade past 16GB without having to replace both your current DIMMs.

Also, for the 2.5" drive tray, for your SSD, you can basically just use some double sided tape or velcro and secure it down, or just let it float freely and it'll be perfectly fine. Z370G also has two M.2 slots, so you could go with an M.2 SSD instead.
