Hi, I just want to make sure on something, I used Aida 64 System stability check and stressed the CPU, FPU (Which I have no clue what it is or what it does) and Cache and it peaked at around 85C on stock speed and voltage. I use the Cryorig H7 tower cooler which is a very good cooler from a lot of the reviews. But if I stop stressing the FPU and only stress the CPU and Cache the temperature drops by over 20 degrees C, should I still proceed to overclock or should I just use it on stock speed until I can get a fancy 240MM liquid cooler. And what do FPU do and what is it? Thanks in advance.

That's OK for that test, though no more.

What really matters are your actual usage temps, gaming, editing, folding@home.

So is it okay for me to overclock my CPU to gain more performence in games? I don't do video edition just some light photoshop.

That's awfully high, even for an FPU test. The simplest explanation is that testing FPU only basically kicks the crap out of your CPU and doesn't really test anything else. As a result, it pushes your CPU to higher temperatures than you'd get with an overall system test. 85C at stock seems wrong, though, definitely too high for an H7. Check the mounting pressure of the H7 to make sure it's even on all sides and firmly in place. Your temps aren't crazy enough to make me think the plastic sticker is still on the H7.

The H7 isn't a dynamo cooler, but it's more than enough for a modest overclock on a 2600X.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

The plastic is off, took the cooler off and no twice already, applied thermal paste, spread it around evenly with my finger. the screw in on tightly on all four of them. what else should i try?

That's about all you can try. Your temps aren't bad, and if the CPU's XFR is automatically overclocking it then actually they're fine.

Oh, I think I fixed it, the auto fan curve for my CPU cooler wasn't even allowing the fan to be a 70 percent at 80C, I turn it to 100 percent fan speed at 80C and roughly 85 percent at 75C so the temp is now roughly 75-80 degrees with FPU. And I think I can lower the temp a bit more by screwing the crew that's in the middle tighter, but I can't right now because I don't have a long enough screw. But for gaming, it's not even 65C
