So I want to upgrade my prebuilt XPS 8300 with a new CPU. I've been looking into an i5 2500k but can't tell if it would work with my motherboard. Both the 2500k and the Y2MRG motherboard ARE LGA 1155 but I feel that it might work. If anyone could, I could really use a confirmation that it would work. Thanks

it'll work, but don't expect the mobo to be able to overclock the i5. look for a used i7 2600/xeon e3 123x instead.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

Since it is an H67 express chipset, you will not be able to overclock like HM said. Go for an i7-2600, I have one running in my rig and it does just fine.
