I know I'm going to get burned/stuck by lightning/get expensive tech dropped on my head, but;

What Linux distro is functionally identical to windows in almost everyday? (But it's still Linux either way because... Well, obviously.) My friend wants to get into Linux, but she only ever used Windows, so I'm trying to make it easier for her.

I've heard people say Linux Mint looks quite like Windows (at least the old ones)

It's not a distro you're referring to, it's a desktop environment.

 

Cinnamon is the DE you're likely thinking of. It's available on most distro's.

The most windows-like desktops are KDE plasma and Cinnamon, which in distro-terms you can install Kubuntu or Linux Mint Cinnamon.

Are you sure you're actually doing her a favour with your efforts to make it easier for her? You don't learn to drive the stick if your friend sits next to you and shifts the gears for you. If she actually wants to experience Linux, why not give her what the mainstream has deemed the best?

 

I'd hate her ending up thinking "oh, Linux is like a weird version of Windows". Please, show her what Linux does better instead.
