Another AMD build advice thread

Hi folks, looking for some thoughts on upgrading my current machine.

Case Fractal Design Define R5

Motherboard AsRock Z77 Extreme4

CPU Intel i5-3570K

RAM G.Skill 8GB (2x 4GB) Dual Channel Ares Series Memory Kit (DDR3 1600)

GPU Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB

PSU 650W be quiet! Power Zone

SSD 1tb Samsung Evo

HDD 8TB

As you can guess my cpu\mobo\ram all need replaced and I was thinking to go down the AMD route.  Was thinking about..

CPU Ryzen 2600

Cooler Noctua nh-d15s

RAM G.Skill Ripjaws V F4-3200C16D-16GVGB

Motherboard I have no idea, something that can overclock but isn't that expensive, don't really need wifi just something that is likely to continue to be updated so it'll take the next gen.

I've selected the Noctua as it should be decent enough to handle overclocking the 2600 but open to other quiet options, I mostly game at 4k and use a lot of apps but no rendering.

Thoughts and advice greatly appreciated.  Oh and I'm uk based which seems to affect the availability of some stuff.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k (won) - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Linux Proliant ML150 G6:

Dual Xeon X5560 - 24GB ECC DDR3 - GTX 750 TI - old Seagate 1.5TB HDD - dark mode Ubuntu (and Win7, cuz why not)

How many watts do I need? Seasonic Focus thread, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

They should get a b450 to ensure compatibility. Plus there are alot of pretty nice b450 motherboards to choose from.

Thanks, I don't mind paying for an x470, just most articles mention the crosshair hero which is fairly pricey!  Possibly the MSI X470 GAMING PRO CARBON will do.

I've just been reading up on that ram and it seems I need to ensure I get dual so that it comes with Samsung rather than Hynix chips which are on the single version with same product number!
