I have about a 2000 dollar budget. I love video editing and want to be able to video edit at 4k easy.  I asked my friend's dad and he says I should stay away from the I9 9900k.  Do you think that I should go for an untested processor? Could you please recommend what would be good parts to buy.

Try posting in "new builds an planning" section, then you will get answers. Offtopic is non tech related only. But i dont see anything wrong with 9900k, but if you dont use adobe programs, threadripper could be better value.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

i9 9900K is the best video editing mainstream CPU, the issue is that it's in a terrible shortage and inflated prices to the roof, in some cases you can build a Threadripper build with even further capacity for nearly the same price.
