Ryzen+GTX Stutter in games

Go to solution Solved by Denis_Twin,

I found the fix, the CPU Was power Hungry/Unstable.

(It was running at 3.9-4.1ghz with 1.25v)

I noticed it when I was looking on closely on Ryzen Master software.

I reset everything to default, removed ryzen master and its stable now.

Ryzen Master despite if you use it or not will set the cores to a pre-defined profile which could be unstable as well without the user knowing it, especially inexperienced users.

It seems to overwrite the options that were set in the bios and some features as well such as xfr and precision boost.

I still have tiny issues in some mmorpgs in cities but that is to be expected I guess, tera and guild wars 2 namely.

In tera Dungeons: 17-30fps on medium settings

In gw2: very good fps overall only in cities it dips a bit and in big populated areas it is going down to 40fps or so depending on the situation there.

Im picking this as the answer so future viewers can benefit from the information if they have a similar setup and a similar problem.

Thanks!

Hi, I have recently built a new computer and I notice stutter in games like heroes of the storm. I did a fresh install of windows as well.

Any assistance will be appreciated, thanks.

More details, mate. Specs, temps, CPU/GPU usages, Monitor resolution and refresh rate. Is this a new issue?

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.

Why do you only have 4c/8t? 2700x is 8c/16t CPU. Do you have Ryzen Master with gaming mode enabled?

Main system: Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Asus ROG Strix B650E / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 32GB 6000Mhz / Powercolor RX 7900 XTX Red Devil/ EVGA 750W GQ / NZXT H5 Flow

yes with this it runs a little better, I used ryzen master game mode, still it lags when someone in a team fight pops something but once in a while and at random, it doesnt stutter though as much, its more natural looking.

GAMEMODE IS FOR THREADRIPPER ONLY.

DO NOT ENABLE IT ON A RYZEN CHIP.

IT DECREASES MEMORY LATENCY IN RYZEN CHIPS AND LOWERS CORES BEING USED.

Please, this is for the TR which one has 1/2 of its core using high memory latency.

You are shooting yourself in the foot here pal.

Does it actually run at 3200? RAM doesn't run at full speed out of the box. Can you make a pic of Task Manager "Memory" page?

this was not the issue, I just switched to game mode to test. Please do not get confused. Yes it ran without stutter but the occasional lag on team fights (specifically in 1 out of 4 tfs) occurred.

I will include some more information with the setup I had when I was getting the stuttering. Also keep in mind that I cannot test in real time since it is a pvp game and I will drag the other fellow players behind.

I will show you my idle setup for now so you can see if something with my settings is wrong.rtyrt.thumb.PNG.652fa59f5c34fd000c8e647ed51e1f49.PNG

CPU is at 52.5C idle? You might be thermal throttling. Get a CPU benchmark and run it to see your temperatures under load.

Okay so this is it for 8 logical processors/cores at 3.9ghz on Cinebench on the 2nd time. I disabled precision boost overdrive, cpu performance boost and multicore/thread from the bios.

I will set it up as it was before and do another round. Do you want to see the results of that as well?

I actually found out the front chassis was unplugged so I fixed it, besides from that I wanted to ask which settings would you recommend for this build ? Like, should I use ryzen master? should I use which settings in the bios for the smoothest performance ?

My specs are on my profile in case we missed anything.

Don't.

Please, disable game mode. It's a misnomer, it is not required nor recommended to use while gaming. It is for T H R E A D R I P P E R chips only. Run at 8 cores, 16 threads and then share the benchmark.

Keep in mind I am using StoreMi

(It was still happening before I was using it though).

What do you want me to do with the page file options?

Unpin automatic, and then set every file page size to 0, I was having similiar stuttering and I found that Windows was using page files on my slow games HDD while I was gaming, then check if something  changes
