All this sounds similar to what I had on an old PC and the problem was... the SATA-cable. Swapping the cable to one that sat a bit tighter fixed the problem. The UDMA CRC error - rate would also indicate it's an issue between the drive and your system, so I'd recommend trying a different port and a new cable.
