Unraid and raid1? It doesn't really work that way, unraid has its own parity system, not normal raid levels

 

For unraid you want a hba, not a raid card.

 

Id just get this used on ebay. Then connect the rest of the drives to the sata ports on your board.

Do you already have those drives, Id get fewer bigger drives if you can.

Id get bigger drives later on when you can, normally works better.

 

Go unraid if you want to easily slowly expand, freenas can't easily expand by adding a drive.
