I'm looking for recommendations.

 

I currently have an old pair of Bose on-ear headphones. They have pretty good sound, and i got them for a good price, but I'm ready for something new and something better.

I've heard nothing but good things about Sennheiser, and I'm wondering what people think, especially if you own a pair or have tried one out. 

 

I'd prefer a pair that over-ear and with a closed back, because i tend to listen to music in public often. However, I've also heard that their headphones with open backs are far superior. Any opinions on this? Do you guys think i should go for the open-back designs anyways? I've also heard good things about Sennheiser x Massdrop headphone.

 

I'm open to any and all suggestions. If you want to point me to another brand too, thats fine

If you're listening a lot in public, just get a good pair of closed backs, open backs can be really annoying for others in public.

I'm leaning towards the closed backs, but i'm also leaning towards the HE1

(jk i don't have that kind of money)

 

I'm at kind of a crossroads here, because i wan't something high end, but i don't want a pair that i need an amp for

I understand your dilemma but Sennheiser's Open backs are some of the best in the market but nevertheless for public use, closed back is recommended.

What is your budget??

like 300-400. I'm flexible though. Haven't wasted my money on anything in a while

I could be wrong but at that price you could easily get an amp but carrying it around could be a nuisance.

At that budget I think you should look at reviews of other closed headphones maybe studio monitors. Another idea is to get a closed pair for 250$ and maybe save up to enjoy open back headphones at home??
