Why does BO4 do this when I tab out

Go to solution Solved by Nogghan,

*update* as far as i can tell this most recent patch has fixed the issue, thanks to everyone who replied

The Vram goes from like 1-2 gb to the cards max of 8gb and the game crashes a few seconds after I tab out to do something else like type in a web address or change a YouTube video, and even when I go back to the game the level of Vram that it managed to eat while I was doing something doesn't go away it just accumulates until it makes the game crash later

Sounds like a software issue. Are you really doing stuff in the backgound while gaming? vram isn't a problem with that card on that game.

this only seems to happen when i tab out though, otherwise the Vram just keeps accumulating during regular game play, ill do like 2 or 3 rounds of blackout and then be at 6gb useage in afterburner, and when afterburner shows 8gb i get a DXerror and the game crashes

Idk, if you are saying it does it for other stuff, it isn't a game issue. I only played blackout during the beta. If you haven't performed a clean install of the drivers or use an older or newer driver as well. If you restart the pc, it the vram usage at its normal levels without anything running?

the issues only happens with blackops and its any game mode from blackout to zombies to MP or even one time i left it on the lobby after just loading the game and it still crashed

theres no issues with the Vram with anything at all except blackops and its only when i tab out of the game to use my other windows

otherwise like i said before the Vram will jsut keep piling up as i play the game and it doesnt ever go down till it crashes or if i restart it before it does that

also sometimes the game refuses to reload and just launches a blackscreen that i have to kill with task manager
