Need advice for new laptop

I know I posted one thread before, but now I want different stuff.

I'm upgrading my gig recently, from 1070 to 1080ti(or 2080, still haven't decided yet. These 2 have similiar prices, but used 1080ti is much cheaper. Probably want to wait until black friday.). I'm planning to use my old 1070 for eGPU, so here is what I want:

budget is 900 to 1000 USD

1. thin, portable laptop with NO  dedicated GPU

2. thunderbolt 3 for eGPU

3.8th gen CPU for programming, video editing and not bottlenecking my 1070.

That's it. Thanks in advance,

Budget probably too low for laptop+enclosure

Oh OK. You're going to buy at which country? Any preference on weight, battery life and display size?

US

weight should be within 2 kilos. Since I don't need a dedicated GPU, this shouldn't be a problem.

Some 13 inch laptops have OK/poor battery life, that's why I'm asking you

4 hours of battery life should be fine.

I did some research.

They say that the thunderbolt 3 comes with the T serious only has access to 2 pcie 3.0 lanes, which is HUGE for eGPU. Any other recommendations?

KK thanks

Btw, there is a 35% off for all thinkpad right now, and the x1 carbon is only 950 USD. Is this model any good? Compare to T series.

Yeah it's a good model, however it has some minor cooling issue

Thanks.

People are saying lenovo is using the same tb controller for all T480s models, so both iGPU and eGPU verisons end up with the same 2 lanes.
