Ethernet network adapter not connecting.

For the last 5 hours I've been trying to get my ethernet to work again after booting up the mini windows live usb on Medicat to have a look around. The adapter doesn't show up in device manager, I've tried restoring the system, restting the bios, cleaning the registry, and unfortunately resetting my windows to factory settings, but it still doesn't work. I also found out that even on a live usb (mini windows or lubuntu) the network adapter also doesn't show up. Both my router and the motherboard show that there's data transfer, looking at the lights. 
What could be the cause? What's the next step I should take?

I tried, but since the device straight up doesn't show up in the manager it can't install them.

Does it show up in the bios?

Good question. I'm using an asus motherboard, where would I see this?

There is nothing in the bios which would let me see that, so Idk.

Resetting the cmos via the clrtc pins fixed it.
