I'm looking to go back to a single card.  I'm currently using two EVGA 1070 SC's and decided that I'm going to be done with multi-gpu scene for now.  The question is, should I actually consider buying an RTX card or go with a 1080 Ti?  Right now, there's a few places that I am already finding some pretty affordable 1080 Ti's and with the benchmarks I've seen for the RTX's, I'm not sure that I want to pay a premium for features that aren't implemented yet.  Even though they are marginally better than the predecessors, I'm having a hard time making any clear justification on which route to take.  Opinions?

Which RTX GPU? For now if you don't really care about the new features, go for 1080Ti. Paying prmeium for features is useless, shit and totally worthless.

I was in the same boat as you. Instead of the RTX, I got the 1080Ti.

I mean, isn't the 2080 nearly the same price as the 1080 Ti?

The 2080 performs either the same or just a tiny bit better than the 1080 Ti.

It has Tensor cores which on top of DLSS for games will also aid programs such as DaVinci Resolve, I'm not sure if it will also aid on NLE programs.

Ray Tracing its an extra feature, that we will see in a future (soon or late), also the RT cores will aid 3D rendering (if you are into that).

NVLink performs better than 10 series SLI, and will also allow 3D render engines to make use of the vRAM from both cards, at least on Vray (pretty much confirmed), which isn't possible through SLI.

So if both are identical in price I would go for the 2080, if you are just going to play games and want to save some bucks a 1080 Ti is a perfect option :)

Basically what I've been preaching in the various RTX2080 vs GTX1080Ti threads here, and elsewhere. IF the price gap between them is small, and since they perform similarly, why not get the RTX 2080 instead? Now, IF the price gap between them is wide, I've heard one or two mention that it's about 300USD (I assume they're from the US), then obviously the wiser choice is the GTX1080 ti.
