Help Me Installing Ram

Hey Guyz..

 

i have 4 sticks of 2 gb ddr3 ram i ghave installed it in my desktop but my bios shows that 3 channels are active i m really confuse waht is single channel , dual channel or quad channel etc etc.. i have attached my motherboard picture.. it is a dell precision t3500 mother board kindly help.. if you can marked the slots in the picture then it will be much more easier for me

The slots are already marked by color. Since this is a 1366 platform, you are supposed to install ram in sets of 3 for triple channel, which is done by populating either the white slots only or all of them. If you want to use 4 sticks, just populate from the CPU socket up and you'll run dual channel.

what is better in your opinion dual channel or triple channel which is showing in the bios right now? i want to mention again that i have four stick of 2 gb
