Old Hdd better than new one?!

ZoliWorks

So long story short, I had enough of the bad loading times and general performance and stuttering cause of the game being unable to load textures and such, and lets say when I ran a game for my hdd and saved down the last 5 minutes with shadowplay to that same hdd the loading times were insane! so I decided to hook up my old hdd into this new rig and after running some tests this is what I got:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

CrystalDiskMark 6.0.1 x64

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

2TB BarraCuda 7200rpm 64mb

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 156.328 MB/s

Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 115.499 MB/s

Random Read 4KiB (Q= 8,T= ? : 0.981 MB/s [ 239.5 IOPS]

Random Write 4KiB (Q= 8,T= ? : 0.689 MB/s [ 168.2 IOPS]

Random Read 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 1.043 MB/s [ 254.6 IOPS]

Random Write 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 0.643 MB/s [ 157.0 IOPS]

Random Read 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 0.405 MB/s [ 98.9 IOPS]

Random Write 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 0.541 MB/s [ 132.1 IOPS]

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

500GB BarraCuda 7200rpm 16mb

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 122.121 MB/s

Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 120.805 MB/s

Random Read 4KiB (Q= 8,T= ? : 1.711 MB/s [ 417.7 IOPS]

Random Write 4KiB (Q= 8,T= ? : 1.591 MB/s [ 388.4 IOPS]

Random Read 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 1.747 MB/s [ 426.5 IOPS]

Random Write 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 1.604 MB/s [ 391.6 IOPS]

Random Read 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 0.616 MB/s [ 150.4 IOPS]

Random Write 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 1.564 MB/s [ 381.8 IOPS]

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

OS : Windows 10 Professional [10.0 Build 17134] (x64)

My Specs

CPU: Intel i7 8700 3.2ghz
Motherboard: Gigabyte B360M D3H
RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY Red 1x8gb Ddr4 2666Mhz (soon making it 2x8gb)
GPU: Asus STRIX 1050TI OC 4gb (soon 1080TI)
PSU: nJoy Woden 80+ Gold, 750W
Case: Silentium RG1W

Storage: Wd green mini ssd 120gb

Storage: BarraCuda 2tb 7200rpm 64mb

Storage: 500gb BarraCuda 7200rpm 16mb

The only thing I see the old one being worse in is the Sequential Read but performing better in everything else? Should I get a different 2tb hdd, since this 500gb isn't enough and I don't want to keep both in the system cause this might not last long, if so do you guys have any recommendations?

That is just one artifical test, not a indicator of all uses.

It also will be faster as used up as hdd are slower the more that is used.

Really get a ssd if you want speed, there getting cheap now. Or get a ssd cache.

If you want a faster hdd, id just get a bigger one like a 4 or 8tb drive.

Honestly you should be getting a SSD for recording with shadowplay, it really doesnt like HDD recording from personal experience. I recorded 1080p 60fps, 1440p 60 fps, and tinkered with the Bitrate (Never go above 50, you will end up with corrupted footage part of the time). Ive tried HDD with mostly success, some issues. Ive recorded to SATA SSD's with practically no issues besides shadowplay bugs, and ive recorded to NVME drives with Slight audio desync issues.

Overall it wont matter THAT much between the drives.

I'm upgrading my current 120gb ssd to a 500gb anyway for some games and shadowplay, so that's out of the picture for now
