So i’m gradually saving up money for parts and knowing that the price of parts often fluctuate, i have a question

Should i buy my cpu or my ram first?

i have an x370 mobo and im planning to pair it with a ryzen 5 1600 and 16gbs, but at the rate im saving money the prices might change drastically.

I can't see RAM prices moving anytime soon. And since DDR4 is still fairly recent, it's not going to get replaced for at least a few more generations. So I would probably get RAM first. Of course, you can never foresee sale prices.

I got my cpu and motherboard together as a package when I went for the 2600 as ryzen is about to announce the zen 2 cpus I wouls suggest you wait on the cpu and get the rams.

1 rams have lifetime warrenty

2 a system can't run without ram

3 since you already purchased the X370 motherboard you know you will need DDR4 ram

RAM prices aren't as bad as they were a year ago, although still high.  Ryzen CPU'S are often marked down and can be found at a good deal.   However, stock on first gen Ryzen will eventually be gone so keep that in mind.

Also, if you are okay with used keep an eye on local classifieds for Ryzen  CPU's.  I've recently picked up a 1200 for $40 CAD and a 1500X for $100.  Both are going into budget builds for friends or family.

Ryzen 2600 - Sapphire Pulse Vega 56 - Corsair Vengeance LED DDR4 3000 C15 2x8GB - Corsair Force MP500 NVMe PCIe M.2 240GB - 2x Seagate Barracuda 2TB -

AsRock B450 PRO4 - Deepcool Earlkase Case -  Seasonic Foucus+ 650
