Hello, yesterday i build myself my first pc, the specs are:

Cpu: i5 4670k

Gpu: amd radeon 7950

Psu: corsair rm550

Mobo: msi z87-g43

Ram: crucial ballistix tactical tracer

Case: cm 690 iii

When i built it, it started up into the bios, it was late so i closed up the side panels and went to sleep, next morning i wanted to install windows so i tried to turn the pc on, when i turned on the psu all leds did go on and the fans spinned. After less then a second it stopped and the psu gave a single click, when i clicked the power button but nothin happened so i turned off the psu and all the fans and leds turned on again for less then a second. I then opened up the pc and reseated all the cables, but i still have the same issue. Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance

I read somewhere that the PSU isn't powerful enough to drive the 7950 they are pretty hungry

550w should be plenty for a single 550. and its RM series so i think its 80+ gold.

this is what I read: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/341514-28-3570k-radeon-7950

but the calculators seems to say that your PSU is just fine for your components: http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

It has nothing to do with the power your psu is able to deliver. If you had a problem with that your pc would turn off by itself only when gaming or when it is under load. I had the same problem as you with my mom's pc. I'm not even sure this problem is psu related. The motherboard could rather be the cause of the problem.

I think because the fans spin when i plug the power cable into the psu

could there be something inside the case causing a short curcuit? otherwise I have no idea what the problem might be, but because you hear a clicking noise in psu is sounds like a safety mechanism

are you also sure that you are powering the PC on?

500w might not be good for that because my r9 280x (7970) needs at least 750w and I have 800w and still need bigger

My Setup :P

Are you sure the system is properly powered? I do not mean in terms of wattage, are both the 4+4 pin and the 20+4 pin power connectors correctly in the motherboard.

So I spelt something wrong in my post... I don't care I don't read through what I write and I type very quickly.

Intel 3770k stock, MSI Z77A-GD65, MSI GTX 760, Corsair Vengence DDR3 1600Mhz 16Gb, Corsair RM 550W, Samsung 830 256Gb, some random hdds.

I did like 9 bios and ME flashes plus tons of tweaking in my bios and never had any severe issues with my MSi board

you must be one of the luck ones then, i had my board for a week then i had to RMA it, every time i got it back it was the same some problems every time, in the end they send me a newer model and it took that one 3 week then the same problem firmware messed up even the backup bios.
