Yes, because it will bottleneck the shared USB controllers and possibly the PCH when used alongside an SSD etc. You need to buy this USB 3.1 Gen 1 PCIe 2.0 x4 card which has dedicated controllers for each port. It simultaneously runs full bandwidth for each port and uses the FL1100 chipset which is compatible with the Rift.

For USB 3.1 Gen 2, you need to find a card that has dual ASM2142 / ASM3142 controllers with a PLX switch chip and a PCIe 3.0 x4 interface.
