okay.. i have somebody who offered me an RX 550 for $70. i do not expect mail in rebates to work. my main question is,

will the 2200g and the rx 550 get GOOD frames on modern games (pubg, fortnite, fallout, rainbow six siege, etc) on medium-low settings. on my games, i will only have textures on high and 3d resolution all the way up. other than that i will keep everything medium-low. should this run modern AAA games at least 30 fps while recording?

i am am planning these upgrades soon:

switch out 2200g for a Ryzen 5 2400g

add 120gb SSD

upgrade to an rx 580 (or rx 6xx when that series starts)

add another 8gb stick of ram

capture card

the pc will be used mainly for recording CSGO, Fortnite, some (maybe) pubg, emulating android (maybe), editing videos with either vegas pro 15 or adobe after affects.

anyways..

is this good? or should i spend an extra 40$ and change out the 2200g for a 2400g?

try to use an ssd or a hybrid drive at the very least cause your load times will be horrible with the hard drive. try a cheap SSD at least 120GB and then a hard drive for bigger games that wont fit on the ssd cause using both is great but a HDD is just too slow now a days. I sell computers at staples and the systems there are around the same price have either a 120GB or 256GB ssd as the only drive or a 60G to 120GB ssd with a 500GB to 1TB HDD in the same pc. SSDs are mainstream and kinda needed now. also that ram is fast but the timings are lose. Try to overclock it with 3000mghz and 15,15,15,32 or 3000mghz 14,14,14,30 otherwise bump up the frequency and keep the timings the same cause ryzen loves ram speed

i already know i need an SSD, i will add that in later. but i do not mind the boot time. i have been booting with an HDD my whole life. so i’m used to it. but i will be using an SSD soon.

ok well swapping to an ssd means making a new os drive and loading it again like new so you might be better off getting an ssd now and adding the hdd after cause it will be easier that way

How about checking with a credible source? Userbenchmark is useless.

The CX450 is already plenty. Most RX 580s have a single 8 pin PCIe connector, so it should be fine.

userbenchmark lumps data from PCs that use slower and/or single channel ram with those that run faster dual channel kits, you get a massive difference with ram speeds and bandwidth when using the iGPU.

igp_perf_rel_1080.png

it's 20% lower now but you can overclock the iGPU to perform similarly, so the $70 for the RX550 isn't worth it.

so should the vega 8 run r6 at 30+ fps medium settings while recording? also, can it render an animation, does it work for game development, and can i render an edited video too?

the coolermaster masterwatt is also good if it's similarly priced.

i don’t feel comfortable overclocking. i am not the best with computers an i still have a lot to run. also, i do not want to do anything that will void my warranty until the warranty expires, just in case something happens

all brands sell crap power supplies and 80 efficiency rating means nothing in quality, stop recommending based by brand.

it's as simple as moving the sliders on AMD's ryzen master utility, not going crazy with the overclocks and testing it to see if it's stable. they won't be able to tell if you've overclocked the CPU at all unless you tell them yourself.

All of those companies have crappy PSUs. Corsair has the VS, EVGA has a billion crappy ones, and Seasonic has the S12 II/M12 II. The 80+ certification is useless for assessing whether or not a PSU is crap. It just means it meets some efficiency targets.

It should be able to run the game at those settings and framerate at 1080p. Recording might not work well, but that's due to the CPU part. Adding a GPU won't help with that. The 2400G will perform better for that.

Rendering works on any CPU, it's just that the tile it takes that varies. Same for compiling code.

well should it run CSGO medium settings 1080p while recording? i’m gonna save up for a capture card.. but with the 2200g. what graphics card do you recommend?

Should be fine.

With the 2200G, use the iGPU. If you want a higher end system, get an RX 570 level GPU. Adding a GPU with the same performance as the iGPU won't help a bit, and is just a waste of money.

Doesn't make much sense to get a Ryzen 3 now and then upgrade it to a Ryzen 5 shortly after. You will be fine with the integrated graphics on these Ryzen chips. You can overclock, believe in yourself. It's SUPER easy now-a-days. Upgrading to an SSD is always a good idea. If you need the PC right away, you can start with low end stuff and upgrade later, but if you can be patient and save up a little more you can get a better rig to start so you don't have to deal with selling hardware and such later on.

Here's a rig that I would recommend you save up for, but it's up to you.
