This exactly, I've only ever used Linux on a laptop (so far) and haven't had issues with either.  Can also confirm that my partner's laptop has no issues with the keyboard back-light under Linux either.

I had it on Lenovo, HP and now on Acer laptop. The touchpad is literally useless and the battery life is around 1,5 hours less compared to Windows 10.

Wont recommend Ubuntu Gnome to anyone tbh, go with something like Elementary, Kubuntu (or neon) or mint

This is probably because it was a double GPU laptop, you need to install the proprietary nvidia drivers (on ubuntu based distros) 
Also try TLP, and the battery life should be equal to windows
