I think you are referring to the i3 8100 and Ryzen 5 1600?

In that case, the Ryzen 5 1600 is the far better choice.

6 cores and 12 threads will blow away the i3's 4 core, 4 threads.

the 2600 is about 30$ more, is it worth it?

not rude at all. you'll get longer support, better single core performence and just better optimalisation on the same chipset and socket

If the price gap is that small, yes.

Note, you will need a B450 or an X470 board for the CPU to be supported out of the box.

Good points, considering the $30 price difference.

Still have to take in mind the possible need of a BIOS update. (Though I think that has been fixed by all manufacturers)

i know, but that motherboard has display outputs. which is not needed at all. and with a 1070 you might want to get an x-series mobo (not the x-series chip), so you can sli it later if you want to

okay, then you'll be fine with a b350 or b450 mobo, just get a good one.

how much performance are we talking about because i only have 170$ left and the 2600 is about 190$. That 20$ might give me some headaches

Yeah, I would get a Ryzen 2600, B450 Mobo, and at least 8GB of 2666Mhz or higher DDR4.

how much more performance will it give me over the 1600?

If that's the case just stick with a 1600. A 2600 would probably be a 5-10% performance jump.

and in that case, would it be a huge impact if i lower the mobo to a Prime B450M-A because every penny matters? XD

Eh I wouldn't get that because it doesn't have vrm heatsinks. Are there any other options?
