Bubble issue

Go to solution Solved by the pokemon kid,

Okay! It has been solved.

It has been leak testing for about 6 hours now and its all good! Just to note for the future. The Jet plate in EK waterblocks are magnetic on one side, or at least the ones I have. I accidentally put it the wrong way round and it stuck itself at an angle to the lanes within the block. This restricted flow by about half throughout the loop and in turn allowed air to build up within the CPU and top radiator. The pump in turn was struggling because of this as it was spinning at top speed and barely moving the liquid. This in turn stopped it from getting rid of bubbles. It was also probably sucking air into the loop because of lack of liquid coming into the res.

A lesson has be learnt! Make sure things are installed the right way round!!!!

Hey guys,

I am having a few issues with bubbles within my system. I realized the other day that I was using the wrong jet plate for my CPU so I drained the loop and put in the Haswell jet plate. I put the system back together and have done the leak test/ made sure everything was tightened properly. There has been no leaks over 24 hours. However, since then I have now got bubbles in my loop which I cannot get rid of. They are infuriating. They are only tiny but infuriating!

I have got the pump running at max speed, and I have been tapping the tubing/ tilting the case which has been moving the bubbles. The issue is, I will leave it for 30 minutes to an hour and the bubbles are back! It has been like this for about 8 hours now.

Also, the bubbles are only appearing in the tubing between 1) CPU and top rad.  2) Top rad and reservoir.  3) reservoir and pump. Everywhere else within the loop is completely clear! I am baffled!

Here is a photo to give you an idea of my loop order.

Lift the PC up while its on and shake it about and get the bubbles to the Res.

Already been doing that. They mostly move to the Res but when I put it down and leave it for 30 minutes, they are all back again...

It doesnt look like bubbles to me in the picture it looks like large air pockets, as if the pump cant push enough fluid around the pipes to air its self. What are you using?

I am using a D5 pump with a EK top. Also, I am using a EK spin res and it has that little flow meter, currently that thing is going mad fast.

It is just leak testing etc now but I think I might of solved it. I drained the loop again and opened up the CPU block. Somehow the jet plate was loose. It was restricting flow and probably blocking air in. Hopefully this has solved the issue...
