so i just did a few things to my macbook pro. i upgraded the ssd to 500gb, did a clean install on it, and after that i disabled the amd gpu in my macbook using this guide (i used the macOS only method).

i disabled it because i don't want to be screwed over when it inevitably fails.

anyway, now my mac won't go to sleep when i close the lid and the screen brightness is locked on max.

does anyone have a solution?

Ahh yes, those machines do have issues with their dGPUs. Unfortunately disabling the dGPU probably messes with some files that macOS was not too happy about.

You could try an SMC reset and a NVRAM rest also.

if i do that it will undo the gpu disable thing, and it will boot up totally broken because you need to delete the drivers for the dGPU in order to disable it.

there are issues with screen brightness and sleep, i was just wondering if anyone fixed them yet.

Ahh, yeah, that would cause problems. I think your best bet would be to get in contact or dig up old forums that have done this mod to see if they have had a similar issue or if its isolated to your machine or macOS version.

Always remember if you screw the OS up too badly to fix on your own you can always reinstall a fresh copy from recovery mode.
