I'm not. There's a point of diminished returns when it comes to frequency, and subwoofers are WAY past that point. They exist because they push lower frequencies at high volume with less distortion.

 

You're hitting diminishing returns there too. Any street legal vehicle won't have a volume that warrants anything over 8" woofers.

A car company makes a product to sell. They aren't going to get much from a car with no radio. Nowadays its not whether a car can get you from A to B, its how well it can. No one wants to buy a turd without a radio.

That by itself is a meaningless statement. Woofers also push lower frequencies with less distortion, the only "issue" is that they aren't going to go as high a volume. That "issue" is completely irrelevant when 8" woofers can push past the safe hearing threshold without distortion in any street legal vehicle.

 

Automotive subwoofers exist to be obnoxious and to scam idiots.

Whether it is common or now a "must have" is irrelevant. Audio is a luxury, not a necessity.
