My roommate recently purchased a new kit of RAM

https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16820313778

Team T-Force Vulcan 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000

Has anyone used this kit and found that it boots up out of the box at DDR4 3200 speed or was he very lucky?

Yea in the bios there’s a thing called XMP (extreme memory profile) and you can pretty much set speeds and timings with one click.

its supposed to load the "default" profile and you'd assume they wouldn't load anything higher then the package speed into it......for reference, my G.Skill RAM only has the "advertised" speed in XMP

Uses the same Hynix dies as all the other kits with the same specs. Depends on the CPU and motherboard.

Yea I understand what you’re saying. I think he’s pulling your leg lol. It’s obviously pretty unlikely but not impossible that he got some that were mispackaged. Who knows...

edit: or maybe it’s impossible idk

except I installed it (and configured it) so maybe i'm pulling my own leg?

I myself have 2 mismatched kits of G.Skill so I don't really wanna see how far I can push it (plus my 7700K  doesn't really need fast RAM)
