Hi, I’m looking to upgrade my office computer which keeps freezing and shutting down.

it needs to be able to handle having quite a few programs open including Google Chrome, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Anydesk, and a few other projects open.

I currently have have an intel(R) Core(TM) i3-6100 @3.7Ghz, with 4GB of DIMM @2133Mhz, and intel HD Graphics 530

What do you suggest as either an easy custom PC, or an off the shelf computer

A couple of questions;

  1. Are you using a normal HDD?
  2. If so, is it full? (Running out of space?)
  3. Any programs on startup?
  4. What OS are you running on the pc?

Run task manager and watch your RAM usage during a normal, then strenuous load. You're likely running out of RAM. I'm using 6.3 GB just sitting on my desktop with some chrome tabs open, and steam and discord (and a few background processes). Google Chrome is a RAM hog. I'm not so sure about office applications but still. It probably only has one stick of 4GB in it so you should be able to easily upgrade to 8 or even 16. Depends on your use though

A RAM upgrade to 8GB will yield immediate performance improvements.

Hi,

it is a normal HDD, and there is plenty of space

i have gone through the startup folder and disabled all unnecessary applications.

it is running standard Windows 10 64bit

Okay. I'd say you need more memory, if you can squeeze an SSD, that'll be great. You'll get faster loading times. I'd recommend getting a 250gb one.
