Using Freesync with Nvidia gpu?

I saw the video Linus did a little while ago, and it does seem really interesting, using a Ryzen APU along with an Nvidia gpu to get Freesync working, which for the most part seemed to work fine, but I was interested to see if anyone here has done that, or has experience with it.

 

I typically do a major overhaul to my main pc every 2 years (in 2015 built my first Intel system with a 4790k, 2017 built a system with a 6800k) and at some point in 2019 I was wanting to do another overhaul. For cpus I'm kind of burnt out on Intel because the way they've been as a company, and have been considering Ryzen more and more lately. I wouldn't upgrade until after the 7nm Ryzen cpus come out, but if I could go the route of getting a Ryzen cpu with integrated graphics and using that as a way to do Freesync without paying the stupid Nvidia premium for Gsync that would be pretty cool.

I use a FreeSync display with a GTX 780. I only get up to 75Hz though, and that's just from having FreeSync enabled.

 

I have no need for any frame sync other than vsync in-game since my GPU is perfectly capable of pushing 75Hz in every game I play without troubles.

Im gonna make a bet that nvidia will disable this soon, so I woudln't build a system around this idea.

 

Since your not building soon, just wait until your ready to buy, parts change fast.
