gpu upgrade

Go to solution Solved by lilc,

It doesn't matter, go as far as you can

So, I am thinking about a gpu upgrade, my current system specs are as follows:

  • pny geforce 560ti (don't have a link for my gpu because I bought it at a comp usa in 2011)

I am wondering how far up I can go gpu wise before my system will start to bottleneck the card.

Buy an R9 270 if you aren't sure about bottlenecking. If your CPU can handle a little more, overclock the card. It is, after all, just an unoverclocked R9 270X.

I'd rather upgrade the cpu, he is using a (slow and old) dual-core?

I agree here. If this was my task, I´d go for a dual solution. A better CPU and a fairly cheap GPU like a R9 270. The card has enough potential to get good results with OC.

And by the end of the day he´s gonna have a gaming bundle and a lot more fun :) .

It is a dual natively but I have the other 2 cores enabled and it's overclocked to 4ghz.  Also, while playing saints row 4 on ultra settings @ 1080p on a 32" tv my cpu load is about 30 - 40% and my gpu load is 99% and I am maintaining about 45 fps.

Just a question out of curiosity since I've been having inconsistencies between my personal experiences and what others have experienced as well as what pictures/reviews show.

Did your Hive psu come with black ribbon cables or see through black sleeve cables?

Black see through sleeves.

Thanks. It seems other reviewers and members have had the same situation. The thing that confuses me is that the Hive 750 I worked with had flat black ribbon cables.

Weird, the only psu's I have seen in person with black ribbons are corsairs.  Either way, glad to help.
