Is SLI dead?

If SLI is dead then what's Nvidia doing putting NVlink on the 2000 series that only support SLI? It would be a total waste so I am thinking either it's delayed or something. But later on we will see full support of NVlink features like additive memory and such. Which actually might be easier for game devs and great scaling almost 1:1

Just keeping this here as a The aren't "putting" it on RTX cards, they are sharing PCB's with the Quadro series cards which makes is available.  The connector can be used for SLI or other functions that are not gaming related.

The last two gen of games I play all scalded great compared to a “better” card. Which is why I have the cards I do. I don’t play every game in the world, so it isn’t a concern with me.

I usually get 70-80% scaling in most current games, and can apply unofficial fixes through Nvidia Inspector. Not really any different from when I was running SLI in 2014.

Interesting. I used to run SLI in 2015-16 and it ran exactly how you said. I just assumed by the stories of negative performance gains it’s gone down hill.

My guess is what you're reading online is hearsay, are coming from people who use incompatible methods of TAA (Witcher 3, PUBG, Shadow of War, etc), or are coming from people who run at sub 4k. Optimal scaling starts at 3840x2160 due to bottleneck limitations, and if you don't use problematic TAA methods, usually nets some hefty gains. Found Inspector long while ago

Sli user for pretty much over decade

8600gt 8800gtx 250gts gtx260, 460,560ti,670,970 and now 1080ti there was other cards but short lived 

Another thing i hear people say micro stutter only had issues few times with mobo/card drivers seemed to always fix it

Playing with tri sli was plain awful

Especially since I'm a surround user too

 

I do hate nvidias ancient control panel
