RAM "Overclock" Questions

Go to solution Solved by Cereal5,

Well stock DDR4 speed is 2133, so you have to OC the RAM to get above that. However, it's not really an "overclock" unless you push the RAM past what it's rated speed is. Also, some speeds are more stable than others. But yes, you do have to access the BIOS in order to set the RAM speed above 2133 MHz

On AMD's site the 2700x is listed as DDR4 2933 Mhz, I may be wrong but I recall a forumer commenting that any RAM above said number is basically an overclock, so I was wondering:

1.- If I use that CPU and put 3200 Mhz RAM on it, do I have to access the BIOS or something to make it run? (I don't want to overclock it)

2.- Would there be problems if I put 4 DIMMS at an speed above 2933 Mhz?

Thank you

So if I place 3200 Mhz memory on it and I boot, it would be running at 2133 Mhz?

Then I would have to access the BIOS to actually set it at 3200 Mhz?

Did I understood correctly or got it wrong?
