Good looking build. Only changes would be a Ryzen 2600 over the 1600 and a Samsung SSD over the Crucial. Crucial isn't bad, but Samsung's reliability is unmatched.

As you didn't provided any place from where I can look prices, and I assume you're from UK I'll just type you a decent rig for the money that will be enough for him.

Before anything, I haven't spend more than 5 min searching so take everything I say with grain of salt. If you are really passionate in making your son a gaming PC, further give information of what you have and need so I can help you out in details. Cheers!

Short Answer:
CPU: i5-8600K
CPU cooler:Gammaxx 400
GPU: GTX 1060 6GB
RAM: 8/16GB DDR4 2400/2666 Mhz
SSD: Samsung Evo 860/Adata SU800
HDD: 1TB/2TB HDD Toshiba P300 or blue
PSU:Seasonic Focus Plus gold 650W
Motherboard: Gigabyte z370 HD3
Case: Mid tower by your taste

Estimated price 990$ which is 750£

Long answer:

i5-8600K or you can look at prices for i7-8700 (He may don't need to OC and you will save a buck, and i7 is much better than i5 for streaming)

If you buy the non K version it will come with stock cooler which will be sufficient enough for gaming but at extensive period of time it may come hot so I advise you take custom CPU cooler for example  Cryorig h7 or Gammaxx 400 (it's old but does the job and is not pricey at all).

For GPU I assume he plays on 1080p screen (you haven't provided that information nither) a gtx 1060 will be enough for this type of games, if you want him to have something more powerful you can look at GTX 1070 pricing. A EVGA GTX 1060 6GB or G1 Gaming Gigabyte GTX 1060 will be good picks.

For RAM as you are on a budget just go with 2400MHz DDR4 RAM. For good gaming/streaming experience 16GB of ram is a must, but if you find yourself short on money 8GB is good enough. Look at RAM like Ballistix Elite they are cheap (not ideally tho).

For SSD as it will boost the whole experience and productivity take Samsung EVO 860 EVO 250GB and install Windows and most important games to him, everything else put on 1 or 2 TB HDD 7200RPM, prefferably Toshiba.

For PSU You can look at Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 650W which is more than he will need. A Corsair TXM 550W 80+ Gold would be enough too.

Now the tricky part if you get him overclocable CPU you will need to buy overclockable motherboard you may look at boards like Gigabyte z370 HD3 if you take the non K CPU just take any motherboard that supports the CPU and has the things you need (USB's M.2 support for future ugprate etc etc).

For case, it's more like personal taste just look at what some and choose. Take mid-tower if you need help with choosing a decent case with good airflow reply to the comment.

The pricing and availability varies by country. That rig would cost significantly more in the UK.

I know it will, that's why I stated he needs to further specify for example a store so I can check prices.

"Make it future proof for some years at least, don't buy "only slightly better" stuff that gets outdated 1 year, that's throwing money away" @pipoawas
