In The Market for a New Gaming Mouse

Crunchy Dragon

Afternoon, all.

As of today, my current mouse has started showing problems. The scroll wheel button, which I have binds on in just about every game I play, is being unresponsive.

So, I've officially entered the market for a new mouse.

My budget is a pretty strict 40 USD.

I'd prefer to buy from either Amazon or Micro Center. Best Buy will do in a pinch.

I'm looking for a medium-sized mouse. I use a palm grip, so something that fits that grip would be nice as well.

Any recommendations are appreciated.

So I'll only suggest out of mice I've actually tried, and unfortunately the only one that meets your budget requirements is the G.Skill MX780.

I like it, especially for it's price, but the back and forward buttons are a little lackluster. I'd prefer something larger and easier to press. But, it is only $32.

I've grown quite fond of the swappable sides. It also has weights so you can change the feel.

If you can stretch your budget a little more, you can get the Logitech G502, which is a pretty spectacular mouse. A lot of plastic though (I'm a fan of metal).

You can also get the white version of my all time favorite mouse; the Thermaltake Level 10M. Extremely good build quality, I haven't felt another mouse with the same high quality switches that these have. The clicks are divine. I managed to score mine for $49 Canadian during Black Friday many years ago, so if you're not in a huge hurry it might be worth waiting for.

I'm just gonna leave a bunch more that also "might" work.

G402 on sale for $39.98. A penny savings over the Corsair.

I actually should start looking at mice too. Still using that Lenovo ThinkCentre mouse I found in the trash. Doesn't exactly look too out of place next to the G610, but still not the best.

Yeah, I also have functions bound to the side buttons so having those be easy to press would be nice as well.

Waiting for a price drop/budget increase for that isn't out of the question either.

It's more different than what I'm used to, but I'll consider it.

They make an advanced version of the Level10M that has swappable sides as well, it's just quite a bit more expensive. Might be worth looking at though, with sales or eBay finds.

The Rival 300 is supposed to be quite good.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016KG7X34/?tag=pcpapi-20&th=1&psc=1

http://www.rocketjumpninja.com/steelseries-rival-300-review/

Or for $3-5 more, there's the G403 and Sensei 310, which are also supposed to be good.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KUAMCV4/?tag=pcpapi-20&th=1&psc=1

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073WGB8G6/?tag=pcpapi-pcpapi-20

Or the G602, if you want a wireless mouse with a bunch of buttons, and don't mind the sensor and high weight. It's a bit larger than the G403.

Which is probably why I've never seen or heard of them before. At first glance they look ridiculous and it's hard to believe they will do much.

Well being on the LTT forum I don't know if this is blasphemy or not, but Rocket Jump Ninja has pretty great mice reviews as well as charting to help you determine if your hand size fits the mouse you're looking at with the grip style you intend to use. http://www.rocketjumpninja.com/mouse-reviews/

The mice I've been using are closer to the $60.00 range but I can only recommend what I've used.

The Zowie FK2 is pretty great. I've used it over the last couple of years without any issues. I'm more of a claw grip though so I tend to like lighter mice that are just a touch under size. https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-ZOWIE-FK2-Ambidextrous-Mouse/dp/B00QIH1GD4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1537127604&sr=8-1&keywords=zowie+fk2

I just recently picked up a Logitech G305 wireless mouse that is excellent. Weightier than the Zowie which is expected with a battery in it and what have you, but its a good balanced weight. Mouse glides well and the battery in question are replaceable AAA's. I actually like the mouse so much I'm considering buying copies for my other machines as well.

https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-LIGHTSPEED-Wireless-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B07CMS5Q6P/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1537127962&sr=8-1&keywords=logitech+g305

Good luck.
