Well, that's what happens when you buy an expensive laptop that isn't designed to be used for anything productive. If I needed VGA and a high end laptop, I'd just buy one of the dozens of portable workstations that still come with it - they certainly wouldn't be less portable than lugging around two laptops.

I travel with my main laptop and a chromebook so theres that xD. Though the chromebook is for school related stuff and my laptop is more general purpose. If the public wifi didnt get shut down I would have used my laptop for everything but RIP that idea :(

2 phones, 1 laptop.  I can't really see a need for two machines.  Although there's no way you'd catch me using a Mac so maybe the need arises when you're a mac user.

Sure, but most people would use VMs for other operating systems - especially if the money not spent on a macbook were spent on better performance. With native linux you could even use KVM which gives you almost native performance, and you wouldn't be drawing too much battery.

i would be eating ram though. i'm the type of person who has loads of chrome tabs open, and a whole bunch of other apps, so i don't want a lot of ram taken up by a VM.

That's not quite true - macOS comes with much older versions of the basic utilities than most linux distributions. Other than that, if you need to do anything that involves, say, systemd, macOS isn't really an option.

A VM that's doing nothing doesn't really use a lot of ram, it's not a problem if you have 16gb or more.

Don't fret friend. I myself don't carry more than my Macbook Air but I don't see anything wrong with having native OSs on dedicated machines. Don't mix business with pleasure ;)

Linux is awful Windows is much better, you only need one laptop and it has to be Windows otherwise you are wasting time. Mac is for children/teachers.
