i7 8700

8GB of ram

1TB of HDD

128GB of WD GREEN SSD

GTX 1060 3GB

Get some more ram, but that should handle most all programming projects you can think of.

I just wonder, what is a realistic build for programming.

I know there are different tons of programming out there, there is front-end, back-end, data scientist, database analysis, app builders etc.

But let's say I wanna build a pretty complex C++ application.

What kind of build should I go for? (only lite gaming from time to time)

How many GB of rams that can makes me "no need to close applications in the background"

Monitor included. What are the best monitors out there when it comes to viewing angel , color accuration etc. (I won't be doing design work).

Thanks!

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

Budget/Country?

You can do coding on raspberry pi, compiling or massive projects are a different story.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

This really depends on the program that your makiing. How much ram and cpu are you using on your current system?

Do you have a budget?

this is only a hypothetical question.

I am using a i7 8700. Everything works fine and smooth. But I think 8GB of RAM is not gonna be enough/

I dont have a budget, so just bring on all the best quality components on there.

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

definitely talking about real world application. like a email client or something like that.

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

Then get an epyc 32/64 core server with like 2TB of RAM

You probably want 16GBs of RAM at some point at least, anything past that likely isn't necessary.

For the most part C++ programming needs high performance cores rather than more cores. Fast storage is also quite important. Sixteen GB of memory is a good idea, especially if one likes to use a VM.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
