I’m looking to upgrade my current pc because of my heavy use of adobe programs. My current rig is i5 7600k with a gtx 1070 ti and 16 gigs of ram. I want to upgrade my cpu and mother board so I can overclock (current mobo can’t) and I’m not sure what would get me the best value. I’m looking at i7 7700k, i5 8600k, or i7 8700k. The mobo would be Asus prime Z270 or z370 (respectively). Thoughts anyone?

Well ryzen cpu's are better at running programs and such because they have more threads, so you might wanna look into that

Either use Ryzen or just wait for the 9700k which is coming in the near future.

adobe programs are more single thread dependent than multi-thread dependent. What are you doing with it exactly?

Since you have to upgrade your motherboard anyway, there's no point sticking with the 7th gen Core Intels.

Look in to a Ryzen 2700/2700x with an X470 AM4 motherboard or an i7 8700k with a Z370 motherboard.

As mentioned the 9th gen Intels are set to release within a few weeks with the 9700k (8c/8t) and 9900k (8c/16t), so since you've still got a fairly decent 7600k it might be worth waiting a few weeks to see what the 9th gen brings with (along with a Z390 motherboard) if you are intending on sticking with Intel.

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450
