Question about Ransomware

Hello! I've never had Ransomware but I have a question. Say I went and encrypted a photo etc would Ransomware be able to encrypt that file so I can't do anything with it? Or would it not be able to encrypt it? Just wandering. Thanks

If only it worked that way. Doesn't matter if the user encrypted it with whatever method, ransomware app will encrypt on top of that with its own methods.

It would encrypt the encrypted file, so you wouldn't be able to do anything with it.
