I have a problem with my audio. I built a new computer that does not seem to have an all in one audio plug so i got myself an audio splitter so that i could both talk and hear. After doing this it is able to detect both, but the audio sent from my mic is being sent to my headset and not to e.g. discord.

I need some help

Ok so let me get this straight:

You have a headset with a plug that has both audio and mic? So you bought a splitter that goes into the speaker port and mic port on your pc. Your pc recognises both devices seperately.

You are hearing the mic but programs aren't.

How did I do?

What does your splitter look like, if its just a aux female to 2 aux male splitter then its useless.

If its a purpose built splitter that separates the channels and your pc recognises them, then do two things.

1. Check if under recording devices you have "listen to this device" enabled on your mic

2. Change Discord's input device from default to your mic

Maybe you've already done this but just in case.
