cpu upgrade

Hi, later this year I plan on upgrading my cpu. What cpu and motherboard should I buy? i7 8700, i7 8700k or wait for 9th gen? Also, is overclocking worth doing?

My current pc:

i3 8100

gigabyte b360m Ds3h

Crucial sport 8 gb

Evga 1060 6gh sc

evga 500w psu

128 adata ssd

1tb hdd

 

My budget is around $450

For cooling I am thinking the arctic 33 esports one

tbh just sink your money into a better GPU and do a CPU upgrade later on. the 8100 is still holding out and new CPUs are currently launching. 

 

a 1070 or 1080 should be doable

1080 within budget.

 

a CPU upgrade can probably be done during clack friday sales for quite cheap. and 8400 shouldnt be that expencive and you can keep the motherboard

if you wanted to upgrade the cpu rather than gpu, the new intel processors are going to be releasing very soon. rumor are they'll be released after intel gaming days which ends the 16th of this month

to be honest that motherboard has horrible VRM's, i don't see how it could handle an 8700 or 8700K, it'll probably overheat and keep shutting down if you're gonna use your CPU heavily.
