Video idea: Remove rubber coating from things...

BallsOfSteel

Have not seen a more suitable forum for this. Linus has already done videos on the warranty sticker removal and whatnot.

I believe, this topic might be a good idea for a video.

So, what's the problem?
Quite a few products have rubber coating on their plastic parts. Mouses. Earphones. Kindle reader. Even the Note 4's black back had it. They are more or less "okay" out of the box. But if use and God forbid also clean them, they degrade. Which causes them to become sticky, have this weird feeling.

Now the question is.. how do you remove it?

That would be the topic of the video.

So far I know that for example the Kindle coat can be rubbed off. I used nail polish remover and fingernail, and now it has a nice plastic back. The Razer mouse I had was a lot harder to clean.

Ps.: If it's against the rules to recommend vids or ideas, just remove the topic. Thank you!

its not really something you can generalize and usually if you remove this coating you gonna get a part that is even worse then before.

if you ever have something that it getting sticky its usually better to cover that area with some kind of foil or even glue it to the part to get a new none stick surface.

Thank you, will do!
I mean it's not really a review per se....but sure. :)

@Pixel5 Yea that's why I am looking for a solution. The Kindle's back turned out to be great, it's "raw plastic" now, finally I can hold it. But before..

@VegetableStu Exactly. All my Razer went like that, but so did my Rival 300 black. (they did not have the hard plastic ones in stock). Also Sennheiser earphones. Jesus...

Thats where they want any and all video requests to go. It could probably use a title update to reflect it.
